One of the online MBA benefits is the ability to take classes from home or wherever else you can connect to the digital classroom; it may save you time, too, since you dont have to drive to campus to attend class. The same survey found that there is a decent return on investment for the time and effort. For those who earned an online MBA, more than four-fifths received a raise or promotion, or both. This isnt surprising since more than half of MBA grads are managers or board directors. Other sources have found that the average salary for an MBA grad is much higher than those who hold any other masters degree twice as much as theyd earn with the average bachelors degree. Youll Learn Cross-Disciplinary Skills You can say youre a proven problem-solver, but an MBA proves that youve learned how to analyze a variety of problems, think critically, and find solutions. Youll have been trained using a variety of case studies and real-world scenarios. Youll be able to move into any management position, study and solve problems, cultivate human resources and identify opportunities. An MBA may prepare you to move into management at your current company, or it can open the door to moving into management almost anywhere else. It certainly prepares you to move into any high-level position, insulating you against business cycle shocks. Youll be ready to start your own business, take on any role at another firm or move into another department at your current employer because your leadership and soft skills are transferable. A good MBA program teaches you the skills that the workplace still requires at all levels, but these skills remain essential at the upper echelons. How to clean up your social media accounts -
How to clean up your social media accounts - Itâs time for spring cleaning, but are you neglecting your social media accounts? Just as youâre supposed to change your smoke detectorâs battery when you change your clocks, the change of season is a good reminder to pay attention to your social profiles. Review your social media goals What are your plans for social media? What do you want people to learn when they visit your profiles? What feeling do you want them to have? What do you want them to know about you or NOT know about you? What do you want them to DO when they land on your website? Take the time to audit your profiles to ensure youâre putting out the right messages. Ask a friend or a coach what they think when they visit your social media profiles and when they look at your streams of information. Make sure you arent missing the mark when it comes to shaping a reputation you want to own. Google Yourself At least a few times a year, you should Google your own name. You want to know what comes up when people search for you online. What pictures show up? Are they of you? Is there someone who has your name and comes up before you online, even in LinkedIn? Make a note of things that show up high in search, and make a point to spend extra time making those things the best they can be. (For example, LinkedIn likely comes up high in search. Manage your profile there first, before you spend time anywhere else online.) Update Your Bios When is the last time you reviewed your bios? Whether they are short (like Twitterâs) or longer (such as your LinkedIn Summary), now is the time to give them a once over. Make sure to include new accomplishments and look over your materials with fresh eyes to update them. Be sure you keep everything consistently updated. If you update LinkedIn, be sure to also update your resume. Once youâve addressed the big picture: scrub your profiles! Review your âtagsâ Itâs a great idea to look into what photos youâve taken over the past year and de-clutter. Be sure photos where other people tagged you are appropriate and speak to your brand. If not, find the âUntagâ button. In Facebook, get started by âviewing your activity log.â Un-follow Is your LinkedIn feed getting too spammy? Are you tired of seeing the overly politically charged updates in Facebook? Weed out people you donât want to hear from. In LinkedIn, you can block people (which means you wonât see their updates, and they wonât see your content, either). LinkedIn wonât notify the blocked people! (Just click on the arrow next to the endorse button on their profile.) In Facebook, if you donât want to âunfriend,â people, you can unfollow and they wonât be any wiser! Choose the âfollowingâ button on the personâs Facebook page and select. âunfollowâ Disconnect from apps you arenât using. Have you given âpermissionsâ to apps you donât use anymore? Disconnect them! In Twitter: go to settings and apps â" disengage from anything youâre not using now. In Facebook, find apps behind the Activity log button. Change Your Passwords Update and change your passwords. If you have trouble keeping track of passwords, you can use a password management program such as LastPass. Also, be sure you are using your personal email for LinkedIn; itâs not a good idea to use a work email or an email you never check! Manage your brand How are you engaging? Check how youâre engaging in your networks. For example: look along the left side of your Facebook profile â" are there groups you arenât using? Feel free to remove yourself. How about LinkedIn groups? Did you join a bunch and never engage? Consider focusing on a few groups for the next few months. If you use Twitter, click on settings, and check apps. You may want to revoke permissions for some if you are not using them. Your visuals: On one hand, a consistent photo makes it easy for people to follow you, but this is a good time to consider a change. IF you have a business, make sure you check your logos and other visuals to make sure they still fit and are on brand. Your email addresses and notifications Are you checking your LinkedIn email regularly? Sometimes, people forget what emails theyâve listed for different networks, use a new email address and miss out on opportunities. What now? Now that everything is clean and tidy, commit to creating a stream of content that will demonstrate your expertise and grow your influence and presence in your field of choice!

Beyonce Picks Photographer Tyler Mitchell for Vogue Cover
Beyonce Picks Photographer Tyler Mitchell for Vogue Cover Vogue just made history â" with Beyoncéâs help, of course. For the first time in its 126 years on newsstands, the cover was shot by a black photographer, a New York-based artist named Tyler Mitchell. Oh, and did we mention heâs only 23? Queen Bey chose Mitchell specifically for the gig. The Huffington Post reported last month that Beyoncé was given âunprecedented controlâ over the September 2018 issue of Vogue, which may or may not be Anna Wintourâs final issue before retirement. Wintour usually makes all cover decisions, but this month Beyoncé was in charge. âUntil there is a mosaic of perspectives coming from different ethnicities behind the lens, we will continue to have a narrow approach and view of what the world actually looks like. That is why I wanted to work with this brilliant 23-year-old photographer Tyler Mitchell,â Beyoncé writes in the magazine. Itâs here! @Beyonce stars on the cover of our September issue. Read the full story, in her own words: https://t.co/T7E2FbGDPn pic.twitter.com/GcX0ziiJD7 â" Vogue Magazine (@voguemagazine) August 6, 2018 Beyoncé says she wants to use her influence to open doors for talented young people just like legendary singers Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross and others did for her decades ago. She also notes that when she first started out two decades ago, people told her it was hard for her to appear on magazine covers because âblack people did not sellâ â" an obvious myth. âItâs important to me that I help open doors for younger artists. There are so many cultural and societal barriers to entry that I like to do what I can to level the playing field, to present a different point of view for people who may feel like their voices donât matter,â she adds. âIf people in powerful positions continue to hire and cast only people who look like them, sound like them, come from the same neighborhoods they grew up in, they will never have a greater understanding of experiences different from their own.â Beyoncé photographed by @Tyler_Mitchell_ for @voguemagazine is what you need this Monday morning ???? pic.twitter.com/yMio6RkSWw â" Samhita Mukhopadhyay (@TheSamhita) August 6, 2018 Mitchell may be young, but heâs no newcomer to the photo scene. His website says he started out filming skate videos and shooting youth culture in Atlanta before moving to New York, where he now does projects for brands like Teen Vogue, FADER and Marc Jacobs. A recent graduate of New York University, Mitchell has about 65,000 Instagram followers and released a book of photos taken on a 2015 trip to Havana, Cuba. âI depict black people and people of color in a really real and pure way,â he told the New York Times last year. âThere is an honest gaze to my photos.â Mitchell, who prefers to shoot on film, set Beyoncé in a Rebel Rebel floral headpiece and Gucci dress for the Vogue cover. Like her photographer, Beyoncé is a trailblazer: Back in 2015, she became the third black woman ever to appear on the cover of a September Vogue. This past April, she became the first black woman to headline the music festival Coachella. Sheâs the highest-paid woman in music, has had at least six albums debut at No. 1 on the Billboard charts and once won six Grammy Awards in one night. Mitchell didnât return MONEYâs requests for comment, but he previously told Lomography heâs surprised when people call him a fashion photographer â" he simply uses clothes to tell stories through images. Mitchell has photographed rapper Jaden Smith, actress Amandla Stenberg and activist Emma Gonzalez, among others, so he probably wasnât nervous about being singled out by Beyoncé. In fact, he told Lomography â" somewhat presciently â" that thereâs âabsolutely nothingâ different about working with stars. âMy hands get clammier sometimes because theyâre really cool people,â he added. âI think Iâm done with this idea of âcelebrityâ though. Sometimes it works because of whoâs in the photo, but I want you paying attention to the photo itself.â Check out Mitchellâs website here and his Beyoncé gallery here.

Job Board Detox Tip #17 Build Your Resiliency - Work It Daily
Job Board Detox Tip #17 Build Your Resiliency - Work It Daily Todayâs job board detox tip: Build your resiliency. What is resiliency? In my definition it is the speed at which we bounce back from discouragement. Another colleague calls it the buoyancy factor; how to stay afloat. We all get discouraged whether we are job searching or not. That is just life. But how we bounce back and how quickly depends on several factors. Take care of yourself. Eat nourishing foods. Add to your diet whole grains, plenty of water, and a rainbow of fruits and vegetables. I have even begun to make green smoothies for myself. I know my energy and health has been affected by my lack of self-care and good nutrition. I am making some changes. You can too. Feed your mind good things. You get what you ask with what you fill your mind. If it is depressing and useless TV shows, then youâll be depressed. If it is uplifting podcasts, music, or books, then you reap there, too. You will reap a better mindset. Mindset is key to being a resilient person. Spend time with up lifting encouraging people. Get away from the friends or colleagues that pull you down or have a negative influence over you. Be careful about who you spend time with. Be intentional in your friendships and the people you surround yourself with. Job board detox build resiliency image from Shutterstock Have you joined our career growth club?Join For Free!
